Maxida produces hip hop in a unique and innovative way from the Sápmi perspective. It is hard rap and heavy electronic beats mixed with Jojk; something that no one else in the world has previously experimented with.
Maxida grew up and lives in Jokkmokk, in an extended family of reindeer herders, but also spends a lot of time in Stockholm. She has brought the best of two different worlds and makes music that touches and sometimes upsets. The lyrics are straightforward and honest, often political, about the struggle to maintain the traditional way of life, injustices and the struggle for equality.
She writes about her own story, based on her experience of society and hopes that through this can evoke thoughts and understanding for her and her people. Although the message of her songs is clear, it is not politics that drives her as an artist. It is striving to create bold music. To awaken a desire in the listener to love, fight and dance.
